As more women enter engineering fields, it is essential to provide them with scholarships in order to finance their education. Not only will this enable them to reach their objectives but also break down generational barriers which prevent women from pursuing their career ambitions.
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) sponsors a scholarship program that awards $1 million annually in engineering scholarships to women. These awards are available to those enrolled in an ABET-approved baccalaureate or graduate engineering, computing or technology degree program.
Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship
Alpha Delta Kappa, an education honor society, offers scholarships to female students. These grants can be used for tuition, room and board expenses as well as books. To qualify, applicants must be in the top 5 percent of their class with financial need.

International Fellowships cover all costs of study or research, including educational and living expenses, dependent childcare expenses and travel to professional meetings, conferences or seminars. No partial fellowships are awarded.
Cognizant Making the Future Scholarship
The Cognizant Making the Future Scholarship is available to women pursuing undergraduate education in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). As a design-based scholarship, applicants must submit documentation of an innovative hands-on project that showcases creativity and leadership.
The Scholarship is open to students enrolled at accredited two or four-year colleges or universities, vocational/technical schools. To qualify, applicants must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and be in good academic standing.
Cognizant has a longstanding commitment to supporting women in the workplace. Their Women Empowered program is designed to give female employees opportunities for professional growth and development, such as networking events, dinners, forums and book clubs.
Furthermore, the company’s WeTech Scholarship supports women in technology by providing internships and mentoring to students. This is an excellent way to get a head start on your career and earn more once you graduate.

The Colorado School of Mines Department of Computer Science was recognized as a 2019 Grand Prize Recipient for their research-based roadmap that included multiple recruitment and retention tactics.
Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund
The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund is a non-profit public charity that awards education grants to women from developing countries. By giving these women this unique chance, they can pursue higher education with the aim of developing their leadership abilities and improving living conditions for women and children in their home nations.
MMEG provides funding to exceptional women from developing countries who are studying at universities in the USA or Canada and who have demonstrated financial need. These women share a passion for working towards the betterment of their communities, with plans to return home after graduation to continue serving their people.
This scholarship program is designed to aid women from low-income families who are pursuing an undergraduate, associates or first bachelor’s degree. It offers up to $2,000 for the first semester and $12,000 per year thereafter.

MPOWER annually awards scholarships to female international students and DACA recipients who are accepted or enrolled in a full-time degree program at one of its partner colleges or universities in the U.S. or Canada, offering financial assistance for these endeavors.
MPOWER established this scholarship to give high-potential global citizens the resources they need to reach their educational aspirations and become tomorrow’s top researchers and innovators. It focuses on women who will use their degrees for social good, the planet, or as role models and advocates for women in STEM fields.
